Mr. Stahl was born on June 14, 1944 on the family farm at Jameson, the first of 13 children born to Andy and Mary Stahl. Most of his school years were spent at Coffey, Hamilton and Weatherby and he graduated from Maysville High School in 1962. The day after graduation he went to basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, came home on a short leave and then shipped out to Europe for 33 months. In the Army he served as a heavy equipment mechanic. He returned to Maysville and continued using his mechanical gifts at Harwood Garage from 1965 to 1969.
On June 2, 1967 he was joined in marriage to Rita Joyce Owen at the First Christian Church in Maysville. Their little family grew to three on Aug. 23, 1968 with the birth of their daughter, Dana Joyce Stahl. In November 1969, Mr. Stahl would transfer from Maysville to Trenton, where he would begin his 30-year journey with Carnation, beginning as a maintenance man and then quickly being promoted to maintenance supervisor. The company later beame Nestle. He completed his certification in heating and air conditioning in 1970. The following year he and Rita would be blessed with a son, Charles Gregory Stahl on Oct. 6, 1971.
He became a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age and was a member of the Fairport Baptist Church in Fairport.
He was a loving family man, caring for others his entire life. He was called Charles by his family… Charlie to his friends and co-workers. He was an accomplished mechanic that was as gifted at the trade as anyone we have ever known. As skillful as he was with the tools in his shop, he was equally as giving to everyone that he came into contact with, always looking for the opportunity to fill a heart or to bless a life. He was an incredibly patient man; a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend.
He is survived by his wife, Rita of the home; his children, Dana and Mitch Barnes of Lathrop and Greg and Nicole Stahl of Marceline; grandchildren, Megan and Aaron Gudde, Melanie Barnes, Dustin Barnes, Madison Stahl and Kenzie Stahl; great-grandchildren, Remington, Emerson and Gipson Gudde; and 12 siblings, Jeannie Hall, Laura Ruth Barnes, Hank Stahl, Larry Stahl, Elain Stahl, Ronnie Stahl, Mary Ellen Morrow, Andy Stahl, Danny Stahl, Linda Kay Ellis, Randy Stahl and Debbie Sue Stahl.
He was preceded in death by his parents and great-granddaughter Addison Faith Gudde.
The family requests donations to Children’s Mercy Hospital for Congenital Heart Disease or Fairport Baptist Church in care of the funeral home at PO Box 350, 603 South Sloan St., Maysville, MO 64469
