Ms. Pruitt, who is the director of surgical services for Wright Memorial Hospital and Hedrick Medical Services, said that the goal of the two hospitals is to “provide excellent customer services to our patients and their families.” Services offered include inpatient/outpatient, surgical/GI procedures, pediatric/adult care and central sterilization. Treatment areas offered in surgical/GI procedures include general surgery, OB/GYN, eye cases, podiatry, orthodontics, ENT, dental and upper/lower GI. Ms. Pruitt said the number of cases treated through the two hospitals continue to grow as more and more persons realize the services that are available locally.
Ms. Hayes talked about working with both Wright Memorial and Hedrick, having been with Saint Luke’s since the system took over operation of the local hospitals. She said the personnel work hard to keep the patients and their families informed about what to expect both before and after procedures as well as during their treatment.
During the business meeting, Allan Seidel and Diane Lowrey were presented with Paul Harris Fellow +1 designations for their contributions to the Rotary Foundation and its programs. New president Andrea Merrin also read about the continued commitment the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has made to Rotary in its fight to eradicate polio throughout the world. With Rotary committing to spending $50 million per year for the next three years in this fight, the foundation has pledged up to $100 million a year in matching money during that time. The foundation has supported this effort with over $1.2 billion.
Next week’s program will be presented by Grundy County-Jewett Norris Library Director Teresa Hunsaker.
