Myrtle M. Smith, a 75-year-old resident of Trenton, died on Tuesday morning, May 23, 2017 at Daviess County Nursing and Rehab in Gallatin.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at the Slater Funeral Home in Trenton with Rev. Doug Crawford officiating. Burial will be in Martin Cemetery, north of Trenton.
Family visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. on Friday, May 26, 2017 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Smith was born on Feb. 21, 1942 in Lineville, IA, the daughter of David Franklin Jr. and Margie Marie Nichols Stark. She attended Ravanna and Pleasant, IA schools. She had lived in Mercer, Spickard, Altamont, Cameron and Gallatin.
She was a member of the Gallatin Assembly of God Church.
She was married at Mercer on Nov. 15, 1959 to John W. Smith, who preceded her in death on Nov. 14, 1989.
Survivors include her daughter, Dianna Crawford and her husband Doug of Trenton; four sons, James F. Smith Sr. and his wife, Opal of Gallatin, Alvin Dee Smith and his wife, Michelle of Trenton, Elvin Lee Smith of Jefferson City and Mike L. Smith and his wife, Pixie of Cameron; one sister, Wilma McIntosh and her husband, David of Mercer; two brothers, Duane Stark of Mercer, and Richard Stark and his wife, Pam of Mercer; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Roger Smith; three sisters, Thelma Carlene Stark, Mary Elizabeth Stark and Margaret Foster; and seven brothers, Franklin Eugene Stark, Hubert Dean Stark, Robert Junior Stark, Clifford Dale Stark, Johnny Carol Stark, Dorvin Stark and Kenneth Stark.
Memorials are suggested to the Martin Cemetery and may be left at the funeral home.
