Pirates Split On Friday

The North Central Missouri College baseball team drew a split on Friday at home on Burleigh Grimes Field. Playing host to Wentworth Military Academy, North Central picked up a 21-2 win in game one before falling 4-2 in game two.
Quinsly Ballentine led the way for the North Central’s offensive onslaught in game one, driving in six runs. Ballentine was two-for-two with two home runs, one a grand slam. Tanner Ryan was two-for-two as well, driving in four runs with a home run as well. Brindley Martina and Derek Hussey each had home runs in the win as well.
On the mound, Wade Phillips picked up the win, pitching four of the game’s five innings. He allowed two runs, one earned, on five hits and no walks while striking out one.
The Pirates’ offense dried up in game two, collecting just two runs on four hits. Michaelle Collado, had the Pirates’ lone RBI in game two. Angel Reyes took the loss for NCMC, allowing four runs on five hits and two walks while striking out two in five innings of work.
The Pirates moved to 18-21 on the season with the split. North Central will be back on the diamond on Thursday, playing host to Crowder College at Burleigh Grimes Field. The first pitch of the scheduled doubleheader is set for 1 p.m.
