Man Charged With Assault After Biting Officer

A Trenton man who allegedly bit a Trenton Police Officer is being held in the Grundy County Detention Center, while another local man is also being held for failing to obey a judge’s order.
According to the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office, Gary D. Hanes, 54, is charged with third degree assault (special victim) a class D felony and resisting arrest, a class E felony. He is also charged with a class A misdemeanor of fourth degree assault. Hanes is accused of biting Trenton Police Officer Keith Vance on the finger and cutting open the skin, pulling away from him and spitting on him as he attempted to arrest Hanes. The incidents allegedly occurred on April 12. Hanes is being held on bonds totaling $16,500 cash and is scheduled to appear in court April 25.
Also arrested was 19-year-old Jeffrey Chad Corbin, who failed to obey a judge’s order in his cases in which he is charged with unlawful use of drug paraphernalia and possession of up to 35 grams of marijuana. His bond has been set at $10,000 cash-only and he is also scheduled to appear in court April 25.
