Apr 13, 2017 | Headline News

The Trenton High School boys golf team put together a top-three finish on Wednesday at the Cameron Invitational, posting a team score of 344. The mark fell shy of just Gallatin (321) and Cameron (329), giving the Bulldogs the third-place spot in a 12-team field.
Trenton put two golfers inside the top five at the tournament with Nate Swann placing third after shooting a 79 and Lathan Croy finishing fifth with a score of 81. Swann had a consistent day, carding nine-hole marks of 39 and 40, while Croy reached his total from nine-hole splits of 40 and 41,
Corbyn Guile was smooth as well for Trenton, finishing with a front-nine 41 and back-nine 43. That added up to a final score of 84, tying the senior for 10th place overall at the event.
“We had a good day,” Trenton Coach Travis Mullenix said. “Three in the top 10 is a good day. We left some out there today, but really we were right there. Nate started off a little shaky, but really kept it together nicely on the back. Lathan is still figuring out his newfound length, but put together a solid round. I’m very proud of Corbyn. He has been up and down lately, but is starting to get it together.”
Luke Lewis rounded out the Bulldogs’ total, shooting a 100 after a front-nine 49 and a back-nine 51. Connor Cotton was also in action for Trenton, shooting a 108 after identical 54’s on the front and back nines.
Individual championship honors went to Gallatin’s Jett Simmons, who shot a 74. Cameron’s Chase Foreman finished second with a 78, right ahead of Swann.
The Bulldogs will return to the links on Tuesday, traveling to Chillicothe to take on the Hornets in the final dual of the season. Tee time for the event is scheduled for 4 p.m.
