Tina Louise Thompson Hamilton, 65, passed away from lung cancer on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Truman Gardens care facility.
A celebration of her life will be held in a memorial service at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 14, 2017 at Lee’s Summit Community of Christ, 1101 NE Independence Ave in Lee’s Summit.
Tina was a lifelong caregiver to family, friends and anyone in need. She was born on March 6, 1952. She was a 1970 graduate from Van Horn High school and also attended Graceland University. At Independence Regional Health Center, she was an activities director for the adult day-care program for 15 years. She then turned her career full-time toward being a tax-preparer following in the footsteps of her father. Tina owned Thompson’s Tax Service for years, continuing to provide reliable, personalized tax preparation for the community. Refusing to turn anyone away in need of her service, often helping the elderly, veterans, immigrants, and mentally and physically challenged individuals- all were welcome and treated with professionalism and compassion. Although she rarely tied herself to one singular congregation, she was a deeply spiritual person, and member of the Community of Christ. Tina led a life of personal sacrifice to provide love and support to her family and friends. Always willing to help, her work ethic was unparalleled- along with her love of family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, W. Doug Hamilton; a son, Hal Hamilton; a daughter, Sarah (Hamilton) Nelson; two grandchildren, Henry and Evelyn Nelson; her mother, Joyce (Manley) Thompson; her brothers, Tommy Thompson, Gary Thompson and Jerry Thompson; her sister, Teresa (Thompson) Kasbaum; and many extended family members, colleagues and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert E. Thompson Jr.; and an infant daughter, Jackie Louise Hamilton.
