Area FFA Judging Teams Qualify For State

After the first day of judging on Tuesday in the Northwest Missouri CDE at Maryville, 10 area FFA teams have qualified for state competition later this month in Columbia.
The Princeton FFA has qualified three teams for the state contest, including the first-place Horse judging team. Princeton also was second in Livestock judging and fourth in Poultry judging.
In Horse judging, Princeton had the top three judges in Allison Batson, Vivian Allen and Andrew Smith. Chandler Anderson was also a member of the team. The second-place Livestock team included Logan Krohn, who was fourth; Kylie Willett, who was sixth; Payton Goodin, who was eighth; and Soyer Wimer, who was 11th. The Poultry team included Dale Bagley, fifth; and Lauren Cox, Hunter Coin and Zane Hickman. Princeton also had the 17th place Agronomy team.
The Jamesport FFA will also send three teams to state, having placed second in Poultry, seventh in Entomology and ninth in Floriculture. Jamesport’s Poultry team included Macey Ward, who finished fourth, Fernando Bechtel, who was eighth; and Jadan Almond and Than Tomlinson. The Entomology team members were Lilly Simmons, who was fourth; Abbie Rexing, Brianna Allen and Taegun Dunks. Members of the Floriculture team were Haley Turner, Tanna Courter, Alex Carter and Lance Cook. Jamesport was also 12th in Horse judging, 14th in Dairy Foods and 18th in Agronomy,
Mercer has qualified two teams, placing fifth in Horse judging and sixth in Livestock. The Horse judging team included Cauy Taff, Dominique Henley, Saige Boswell and Boston Boswell while Cash Hartley, Cru Taff, Bryer Noe and Zack Main made up the Livestock team. Mercer was also ninth in Poultry and 16th in Entomology.
The Grundy R-5 FFA chapter has one team going to state so far, having finished fifth in Floriculture. Team members are Emma Baxter, Taylor Brunelle, Kendra Betz and Dakota Hill. Grundy R-5 also placed 14th in Farm Management, 18th in Dairy Foods and 20th in Horse judging.
Gilman City has one state qualifier thus far as the Agronomy team placed third. Team members are Riley Still, who was eighth; Garrett Clark, who was ninth; and Jacob Burnett, who was 10th. Gilman City was 25th in Livestock and 32nd in Floriculture.
Trenton had four teams in competition on Tuesday, none of which qualified for state. The highest finishing team was the Floriculture team, which was 14th. Members were Lindsey Schlared, Latorrie Johnson, Padyn Gibson and Adreanna Gard. Finishing 16th was the Poultry team, comprised of Mason Owen, Quentin Hughs and Noah Lewis. The Dairy Foods team was also 16th and included Laura Carlson, Kohner Geyer, Malea Farmer and McKenna Dolan. Finishing 22nd was the Entomology team of Hannah Ellis, Hannah Merhoff and Nicole Rodriguez.
Judging continues today at Maryville. Final results will be included in Thursday’s Republican-Times.
