Pirates Drop Two Against Jefferson

The North Central Missouri College baseball team was able to get two of its scheduled four games with Jefferson College in over the weekend, dropping a doubleheader on Sunday with a 9-3 loss in game one and an 11-3 loss in game two.
Enrique Madera had a double, two steals and two runs scored in the opener to lead the Pirates’ offense, which netted its three runs on just two hits, but had seven walks. Curtis Mitchell scored the other run and Jared Fry had North Central’s lone RBI. Blake Collister took the loss, throwing five innings and allowing eight runs on nine hits and three walks while striking out five. He allowed three home runs in the loss.
Madera and Brendley Martina each had RBIs in the game-two loss, with Derek Hussey, Tanner Ryan and Ryan Sport all scoring one run each. The Pirates plated their three runs on five hits, four walks and one Jefferson error. Kylan Easley took the loss for NCMC, allowing eight runs, six earned, on nine hits and three walks while striking out six.
The Pirates will make up Saturday’s cancelled doubleheader today. North Central and Jefferson will play two games, weather permitting, in St. Joseph due to scheduled home baseball games for Trenton High School this afternoon. The first pitch in St. Joseph was scheduled for noon.
