Funeral services for Elvin Eugene Noel will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery near Gallatin.
A family visitation will be held one hour prior to service. General visitation begins at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at the funeral home.
Mr. Noel, a 77-year-old resident of Gallatin, died on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at the Cameron Regional Medical Center. He was owner/operator of Howard’s Department Store in Trenton.
Mr. Noel was born on Dec. 23, 1939 in Gifford, the son of Everett and Elizabeth Noel. He attended Collinsville (IL) High School, then went on to college and graduated from Truman State University in Kirksville.
He was married on March 2, 1963 to Peggy Sue McFry. Together they owned and operated three clothing stores, Howard’s at Trenton, Friends at Chillicothe and JP Fashions at Cameron. For the past 45 years, he could usually be found at Howard’s.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy of the home; a daughter, Kelly (Richard) Harman of Springfield; a son, Kevin (Michelle) Noel of Cameron; three grandchildren, Megan (Jason) Anderson of Roeland Park, KS, Ryan Squires of Kansas City and Hannah Noel of Independence; four step-grandchildren, RJ (Carrie) Heinse of Kansas City, Stacy (Tom) Brecht of North Hollywood, CA and Ian and Dayne Harman, both of Springfield; one great-grandchild, Nicholas Anderson; three step-great-grandchildren, Annabelle and Owen Heinse and Bradley Brecht; and a brother, Mike (Alice) Noel of Herculaneum.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Steve Noel; and a sister, Judy Howard.
Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church of Gallatin or the Green Hills Animal Shelter in Trenton. They may be left at or mailed to the McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin.
