The Laredo fifth and sixth grade basketball teams have opened their seasons, facing off with Chula, Spickard, Bishop Hogan and Pleasant View so far this year.
Laredo split with Chula, winning the girls’ game 16-6 behind six points from Morgan Foster, but lost the boys contest in spite of a 10-point night from Peyton Moore.
The Tigers swept Spickard, getting six points each from Foster and Kenzie Lynch in a 24-16 win in the girls game. Bo Meeker had 20 points and Uriah Sethman added 18 as the Laredo boys defeated Spickard 46-26. Spickard got six points each from Nautica Dowling and Katie Chapman in the girls’ contest and Nick Lawrence led the Spickard boys with 22 points.
Both Laredo teams fell to Bishop Hogan, the girls losing 38-16 and the boys falling 51-18. Emma Thompson led the Laredo girls with eight points and Moore had 15 points to pace the Laredo boys.
Against Pleasant View, Laredo fell 23-14 in the girls game and 25-16 in the boys game. Laredo was led by six points from Foster in the girls game and 10 from Moore in the boys’ game. Pleasant View got eight points from Ali Westcott in the girls’ game and 14 from Keifer Tolson in the boys game.
