Gilman City Girls 54, Pattonsburg Girls 50
The Gilman City girls continued a strong finish to the season on Tuesday night, securing a first-round district victory over Pattonsburg at the Class 1, District 14 Tournament in Eagleville. Gilman trailed 16-4 after the opening frame, but came back with a 17-7 run in the second quarter. Gilman then outscored Pattonsburg 24-16 in the fourth quarter, hitting 12-of-15 free throws down the stretch to seal the win.
Hailey Burrows led the Hawks (11-15) with 35 points, 12 rebounds, nine steals, three blocks and two assists. Gilman City has now won six of its last eight games, the only two losses coming to Mercer. Gilman will face that same Mercer team in the semifinals on Thursday at 6 p.m. in Eagleville.

Mercer Girls 88, Newtown-Harris Girls 18
The top-seeded Mercer girls had no trouble dispatching of eighth-seeded Newtown-Harris Tuesday night at the Class 1, District 14 Tournament in Eagleville, winning by 70 points.
Bailey Owens led the Cardinals (25-1) with 24 points, seven assists, five steals and six rebounds. Lindsay Wyatt added 17 points, and six assists and Nicole Kost finished with 15 points, five assists and four steals. Mercer also got 11 points from Emily Sample and eight points, 11 rebounds and five steals from Breanna Main.
Mercer will face a Gilman City team which it has defeated twice in the last two weeks on Thursday in the semifinals. Tip time between the Cardinals and Hawks is set for 6 p.m. in Eagleville.
