Mercer Girls 84, Gilman City Girls 35
The Mercer High School girls’ basketball team had no trouble picking up a semifinal win at the HDC Conference Tournament Tuesday night, running up a 49-point victory over fifth-seeded Gilman City. The top-seeded Cardinals took a 27-7 advantage in the opening frame and outscored Gilman 23-2 in the second quarter. Mercer opened the second half on a 22-5 run, pushing the lead to 72-14 entering the final frame. With Mercer’s foot off the accelerator for the first time all night, Gilman closed the game on a 21-12 run, but the outcome was already in hand as Mercer advanced to its eighth-straight HDC Conference Touranment final.
Morgan Eastin led the Cardinals (20-1) with 20 points. Nicole Kost and Rayne Kost each scored 16 points and Bailey Owens added 10.
Hailey Burrows led Gilman City (8-14) with 23 points, six rebounds and a block.

North Harrison Girls 59, Grundy R-5 Girls 57 – OT
The Grundy R-5 High School girls’ basketball team just missed an upset of second-seeded North Harrison at the HDC Conference Tournament Tuesday night, falling by two points in overtime. Grundy trailed 25-19 at halftime, but rallied back to tie the game at 51-51 by the end of regulation. The Panthers had three players foul out in the bonus period as North Harrison held on for the victory.
Matana Munday had 18 points and nine rebounds to pace Grundy (13-9). Aubrey Gann added 13 points and Morgan Axtell finished with 10 points and six rebounds. Zoe Littleton had six rebounds and three assists. North Harrison’s Payton Craig scored a game-high 27 points.
Princeton Girls 52, Albany Girls 13
The Princeton girls picked up a win over Albany Tuesday night, using a dominating defensive effort to get past the Warriors. Princeton took an 11-5 lead in the opening frame and then limited Albany to just two second-quarter points, pushing the advantage to 28-7 by halftime. Princeton’s defense continued to make things tough on Albany, limiting the Warrior to just six more points the rest of the way.
Payton Goodin led Princeton (13-10) with 16 points and Jaelyn Thomas added 14.
Princeton Boys 69, Albany Boys 33
The Princeton boys followed up the Princeton girls win over Albany with one of their own, taking a 26-16 lead in the first half and more than doubling that advantage in the second. Princeton outscored Albany 14-9 in the third quarter and 29-8 in the fourth, pulling away for the 36-point victory.
Blaine Millburn led Princeton (12-10) with 17 points and Calvin Berwanger scored 13. Cameron Jones added 10 points for the Tigers.
