North Central Swept By St. Louis In Region 16 Action

Feb 6, 2017 | Basketball, Sports & Recreation

It was a tough weekend for the North Central Missouri College basketball teams, who were dealt road losses in Region 16 contests at St. Louis Community College Saturday afternoon. The North Central women suffered their first region loss of the year, falling 75-73 and the NCMC men dropped their match-up with St. Louis 74-58.
For the NCMC women, a rough start proved to be the difference. The Pirates fell behind 20-9 in the opening 10 minute quarter and spent the rest of the day playing catch up. NCMC outscored St. Louis in each of the remaining three quarters, but it wasn’t enough to completely erase the damage done in the first quarter. The Pirates’ comeback bid fell two points shy as the team dropped to 16-6 overall and 3-1 in region play.
Kendey Eaton led NCMC with 31 points and Sarah Lamp added 10 points and 15 rebounds.
The NCMC men, meanwhile, fell behind 38-23 in the first half and never recovered, falling by 16 points. The loss dropped the Pirates to 10-8 overall and 1-2 in the region.
Major Finley led the Pirates with 13 points and Demetrius Houston added 11.
The NCMC women host MO Valley’s JV tonight at 5:30. The men travel to MO Valley for a 7 o’clock tip.
