Grundy R-5 Girls 56, East Harrison Girls 41
The Grundy R-5 girls’ basketball team was in action on Thursday night, traveling to Cainsville to take on East Harrison. Grundy was able to rack up a conference victory, taking the game by 15 points.
Jandie Peterson led Grundy (12-8) with 18 points and eight steals. Matana Munday and Aubrey Gann each had nine points and Alissa Webb pulled down 11 rebounds. Grundy also got eight rebounds from Emma Baxter and Zoe Littleton had six points, four assists and five steals.
The Grundy girls will be in HDC Tournament action on Saturday in Winston. Grundy takes on the host Redbirds at 9 a.m.

East Harrison Boys 69, Grundy R-5 Boys 51
The Grundy R-5 boys were able to keep themselves within striking distance against East Harrison on Thursday night in Cainsville, but couldn’t ever overtake the Bobcats. The Panthers entered the final frame down 11 points, but East Harrison hit all eight of its fourth-quarter free throw attempts to keep Grundy at bay.
Jon Stimpson had 20 points, 11 of which came in the fourth quarter, to pace the Panthers (4-15). Wayne Baxter added 12 points and Bryson Gann had 10.
The Panthers face East Harrison again on Saturday at the HDC Conference Tournament in Winston. The squads will tip off their quarterfinal game at 10:30 a.m.

Gilman City Girls 60, Breckenridge Girls 42
The Breckenridge girls scored 42 points against visiting Gilman City on Thursday night, but Gilman’s Hailey Burrows put up 42 points herself as the Hawks scored a 60-42 road win in non-conference action.
Burrows eclipsed the 1,000-point threshold for her career in the second quarter. She also added to her insane point total with 15 rebounds and two steals. Megan Cottrell added 11 points, seven rebounds, four steals and three assists to the Hawks’ (6-13) total.
The Gilman City girls will take on East Harrison on Saturday at the HDC Conference Tournament in Winston. Tip time is set for noon.

Gilman City Boys 63, Breckenridge Boys 41
The Gilman City boys picked up a road win in Breckenridge on Thursday night as well, topping the home team behind a 22-9 run in the fourth quarter.
Kaleb Bjornlie led Gilman City (6-13) with 26 points, six rebounds, six steals and three assists. Skylar Reynolds added 11 points and eight rebounds and Dakota Boe had eight points and six rebounds. Cornelius Peery finished with six points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals.
The Gilman City boys take on Mercer on Saturday at the HDC Conference Tournament in Winston. That game will begin at 1:30 p.m.
