Wanda N. Egeland, a 92-year-old resident of Independence and former Trenton resident, died on Tuesday morning, Dec. 13, 2016 at The Groves Care Center in Independence.
Graveside memorial services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017 at the Groff Cemetery, northwest of Spickard.
A family visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to noon on Saturday at the Slater Funeral Home in Trenton.
Mrs. Egeland was born on Feb. 15, 1924 in Sheridan Lake, CO, the daughter of Hubert Victor and Mayma Bug Lovell Whitt. She attended Brimson schools.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Brimson.
She was married on Nov. 14, 1944 in Washington D.C. to Edmund D. Egeland, who preceded her in death on May 30, 2008.
Survivors include two sons, David Egeland of Independence and Jerry Egeland of Linn Creek; one brother, Kenneth Whitt of Trenton; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Opal Ricketts, Neva Walker, Beulah Hawn, Ruby Anderson and Norma Whitt; and two brothers, Richard Whitt and Edgar Whitt.
Memorials are suggested to the Joseph L. Norton VFW Post 919 of Trenton and they may be left at or mailed to the Slater Funeral Home in Trenton.
