Grundy R-5 Girls 44, Meadville Girls 30
The Grundy R-5 girls’ basketball team picked up a road victory on Monday night, defeating Meadville in non-conference action.
Jandie Peterson had 24 points, four assists and two steals and Matana Munday added 11 points and nine rebounds for the Panthers (10-8). Morgan Axtell led Grundy in assists with 10 and also had five points and three steals.

Meadville Boys 67, Grundy R-5 Boys 25
The Grundy R-5 boys’ were unable to follow the girls’ lead, dropping their road contest in Meadville. A 16-8 first-quarter run by Meadville put Grundy in a hole early and a 26-6 run by the Eagles in the second quarter essentially ended the game.
Jon Stimpson had 14 points to lead Grundy (4-13) and Bryson Gann scored seven points. Wayne Baxter had a team-high five assists for the Panthers.
Both Grundy teams travel to Gilman City tonight for an HDC Conference doubleheader beginning at 6:30.

Gallatin Girls 50, Princeton Girls 29
The Princeton girls were dealt a Grand River Conference loss on Monday night, falling on the road in Gallatin. A 17-2 run by Gallatin in the first quarter set the tone and Princeton was outscored 11-4 in the fourth quarter as Gallatin pulled away early and late for the win.
Jaelyn Thomas led Princeton (10-10, 3-3 GRC) with 10 points.

Princeton Boys 58, Gallatin Boys 44
The Princeton boys picked up a conference win on the road, topping the Gallatin Bulldogs. Princeton held a 12-8 lead after one quarter and pushed the advantage to 31-18 by halftime. In the second half, Gallatin trimmed the lead to 11 points in the third quarter but Princeton closed the game with a 14-11 run to seal the conference win.
Andrew Smith led Princeton (9-10, 1-5 GRC) with 15 points while Logan Dunkin added 13 and Calvin Berwanger scored 11. Cameron Jones pitched in nine points for the Tigers.
Both Princeton squads will wrap up Grand River Conference play tonight, on the road in Maysville.

Mercer Girls 73, Hale Girls 23

2017 Meadville Tournament champions – Mercer Cardinals

The Mercer girls laid claim to the Meadville Tournament championship on Saturday, dominating Hale in the title game. Mercer led 26-2 after just one quarter and the Cardinals were well on their way to the tournament title by halftime, leading 43-12.
Lindsay Wyatt led Mercer (16-1) with 31 points, four assists and two steals while Bailey Owens added 14 points, five assists and two steals and Nicole Kost had 10 points, six assists and four steals. Morgan Eastin added nine points for the Cardinals.
Mercer returns to the court tonight, playing host to Winston at 6 o’clock.

North Harrison Girls 39, Princeton Girls 32
The Princeton girls missed a Gilman City Tournament championship, falling by seven points to North Harrison in Saturday’s championship game.
Payton Goodin led Princeton with nine points and Jaelyn Thomas followed with eight.

Princeton Boys 53, Pattonsburg Boys 51
The Princeton boys picked up the Gilman City Tournament championship on Saturday, slipping past Pattonsburg behind a fourth-quarter rally. Princeton trailed throughout much of the game as Pattonsburg held a 17-13 first quarter lead, 27-26 halftime lead and 42-38 third quarter lead. In the fourth, however, Princeton outscored their opponents 15-9, rallying back to clinch the title.
Blaine Millburn scored 20 points to pace the Tigers in the championship while Andrew Smith followed with 13 points.

Grundy R-5 Girls 53, Northwest Girls 48

The Grundy R-5 girls picked up the consolation prize at the Meadville Tournament on Friday night, defeating Northwest in the fifth-place game.
Jandie Peterson led Grundy with 15 points and Zoe Littleton had 14 points and seven steals. Matana Munday had nine points and 14 rebounds and Morgan Axtell finished with six points and seven assists.

Mercer Boys 58, Linn County Boys 44
The Mercer boys bounced back from a semifinal loss at the Meadville Tournament with a 14-point victory over Linn County in the third-place game on Friday night. Mercer established an eight-point lead in the opening frame and still led by eight at halftime. Mercer would outscore Linn County in both the third and fourth quarters, pulling away down the stretch for the third-place title.
Bryer Noe led Mercer (14-3) with 19 points, five rebounds, five steals and three assists. Cash Hartley had 17 points and 12 rebounds and Cam Hartley added 14 points and six rebounds.
The Mercer boys will face off with Winston tonight at home following the girls match-up.
