Grundy R-5 Girls 51, Novinger Girls 31
In the first round of the Milan Tournament on Monday night, the Grundy R-5 girls picked up a 51-31 win over Milan.
Matana Munday led the scoring with 17 points and also collected 14 rebounds. Jandie Peterson had 16 points, six rebounds and seven steals. Morgan Axtell added 12 points and eight rebounds while Aubrey Gann also picked up eight rebounds. Novinger was led by Kendra Frederick with 10 points.
The R-5 girls (6-4) advance to the semifinals of the tournament and will meet top seed Green City at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Green City Boys 78, Grundy R-5 Boys 28
The Grundy R-5 boys were handed a loss by Green City in Monday night’s Milan Tournament 78-28.
The Panthers were led by Bryson Gann with seven points and five rebounds. Wayne Baxter collected six points while Jonathon Stimpson and Austin Eckert scored five each. Stimpson also had four rebounds. Green City was led by Devin Fields and Ryan Peavler with 20 each.
The Panthers (2-7) will face Newtown-Harris at 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
Princeton Girls 59, Putnam County 48
The Princeton girls got a first-round victory in the South Harrison Tournament on Monday night, defeating Putnam County 59-48.
It was all Tigers in the contest as Princeton led throughout the game, taking a 42-26 lead into the final period of play.
Princeton was led by Jaelyn Thomas with 21 points. Payton Goodin scored 15 points and Lindsay Batson had 10 points. Putnam County was led by J. Vaner with 21.
The Tigers will next play North Mercer at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
