Former Trenton resident Rose King has been awarded the Cellular and Molecular Biology Training Grant at the University of Washington in Seattle.
The grant provides funding for two years of research and an annual travel stipend. Miss King is a candidate in the PhD program and a university employee in the biochemistry department, doing research in mitotic processes, specifically microtubule nucleation. In December she presented her research in San Francisco, CA at the American Society of Cell Biology conference attended by scientists from around the world.
In 2014, she entered graduate school in Seattle after earning a biology degree from Truman State University in Kirksville. She is a 2010 graduate of Trenton High School and the daughter of Cathy King of Tennessee and the late Brian Mock. Tom Mock of Trenton and the late Barbara Mock are her grandparents.
