Steven Dale Street, a 61-year-old resident of Stet, died on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016 at North Kansas City Hospital in North Kansas City, surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016 at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Burial will be in the Stet-Penniston Cemetery, west of Stet.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016 at the funeral home.
Mr. Street was born on Feb. 17, 1955 in Trenton, the son of Vernon and Thelma Warner Street. He was married on Aug. 10, 1975 to Sherry Mullins of Humphreys, who survives of the home.
He was raised in the Galt area and graduated from Grundy County R-5 High School in 1973. He then attended and graduated from Trenton Junior College in 1975 and Northwest Missouri State University in 1977 with a degree in education. Steve received his masters of education degree from Central Missouri State University in 1983.
He grew up in the Humphreys area before moving to the Stet area in 1977, where he began his career teaching physical education and coaching at Stet R-XV High School. He became principal at Stet in 1982 and was principal until he retired in 2008. While teaching, he taught driver’s education at Chillicothe for 13 summers.
Mr. Street was a Stet volunteer fireman for several years. He was a member of the Humphreys Christian Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law, Brad and Kristina Street of Kearney and their daughter, Harper Ava Street and Daniel and Jaclyn Street of Gallatin, who are expecting their daughter, Ellison Nora Street in March 2017; one sister and brother-in-law, Christine and Charles Boren of La Plata; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Stanley Street.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the American Diabetes Association or to the Stet Fire Department.
