Schools Plan Veterans Day Programs

Nov 7, 2016 | Headline News

Trenton High School and Trenton Middle School will hold a student-led Veterans Day program on Friday at 2 p.m. in the THS commons.
THS and TMS student organizations and the performing arts departments have developed a tribute to honor veterans, which will begin with a coffee social for veterans and opportunity to view some student-created tributes. The students have prepared a musical tribute as well.
The schools would like to extend an open invitation to all area veterans and hope that they will be able to attend the program to help honor those who have given so much.
Rissler Elementary School will also be holding a Veterans Day program on Friday, beginning at 8:05 a.m.
The student-led event will include a program in honor of local and area veterans. Those attending will also be recognized during the program. A reception for the veterans, hosted by the Rissler Elementary Student Council, will follow the program.
Also as part of Veterans Day activities, North Central Missouri College will participate in the National Roll Call Event which is taking place at college campuses across the nation. Members of the public are invited to attend.
The National Roll Call, which is set for noon on Friday, Nov. 11, will be in front of Geyer Hall on the NCMC campus. The program will include a short address by College President Dr. Lenny Klaver and the naming of Missouri’s Fallen Heroes by NCMC student leaders.
NCMC will also participate in the National Moment of Silence at 1 p.m.
NCMC has been recognized for several years as a Military-Friendly School by Victory Media, which honors colleges, universities and trade schools across the nation doing the most to embrace military service members, veterans, and their spouses to help ensure their success in higher education.
