The Grundy R-5 Junior High School basketball teams were in action at the Tri-County Tournament in Jamesport Thursday night, taking on the host school. Grundy picked up a 43-41 win in the girls’ contest, but Tri-County won the boys’ match-up, 39-19.
In girls’ action, Grundy was paced by Daya Allnutt, who had 12 points and Brianna Carpio added 11. Abigail Mathews finished with nine points and six rebounds and Lillian Fordyce pulled down seven rebounds for the Lady Panthers. Tri-County got 22 points from Bailee Hoover and 12 from Rikki Cook.
In the boys’ game, Grundy got nine points from Robert Urich and eight from Caden Gann while Tri-County’s Than Tomlinson scored a game-high 20 points.
