Two Gladstone residents were taken to Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton following a two-vehicle accident on Thursday afternoon.
K. Leigh Stith, 23, and Karson Kilson, 4, received moderate injuries in the accident, which occurred on Highway 6, four miles west of Trenton. The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Ms. Stith was the driver of a westbound car and had reached into the back seat of the car to obtain an item. The patrol said she did not see slowing traffic ahead and that when she applied the brakes, the vehicle steered to the left, crossing the center line and striking an eastbound truck driven by Levi Hershberger of Gilman City. The car came to rest in the center of the road while the truck traveled off the south side of the road and came to rest. Both vehicles received extensive damage.
Karson Kilson was a passenger in the Stith vehicle. Hershberger was not reported injured.
The accident was investigated by Trooper J.C. Gilliland, assisted by Cpl. J.A. Pithan, Trooper B.N. Raney, Trooper A.D. Martin, the Trenton Fire Department and the Grundy County Emergency Medical Services.
