Ferril Hagan, a 98-year-old Trenton resident, died at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, Oct.13, 2016 at the Convalescent Care Center in Excelsior Springs, where he had been under hospice care.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016 at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
A family visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at 1 p.m. Open viewing will be Saturday afternoon, Oct. 15, 2016 at the mortuary.
Mr. Hagan was born on Sept. 1, 1918 in Mercer County, the son of James Stuart and Bessie Mable Mark Hagan. He attended the Center School at Saline. He was married to Lois Annibel Kirkpatrick on Aug.12, 1939.
He was a member of the Bethel and Hatton Chapel Methodist churches. He farmed in Mercer County until 1944, when he and Annibel moved to the Forks of the River. They lived on the family farm until 1975 before moving north of Trenton. He became a private pilot in 1968 along with his son, Robert. Farming and travel were his interests. A 1989 trip to Russia became his favorite trip. As a member of MFA, Mr. Hagan made two trips with other area farmers to Washington DC to protest against dams on Grand River Basin and marketing.
Survivors include his wife, Annibel Hagan of Excelsior Springs; a daughter, Diana Scott and her husband, Alan of Kearney; three grandchildren, Lori Ann Jarrett and her husband, Jeff, Stephanie Lynn Wachob and her husband, John and Timothy Ray Scott; and six great-grandchildren, Josh and Elizabeth Jarrett, Alexis, Laura, and Nikki Hagan, and Eli Christian Wachob; a sister-in-law, Louise Hagan; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters, Cecil and his wife, Lenora, Irma Dunn and her husband, Leo, Lois Dunn and her husband, Clell, Mervil Hagan and his wife, Veta, Avis Larason and her husband, Lloyd, Hubert Hagan and his wife, Elaine, Faye Kindred and her husband, Clarence, Lloyd Hagan and his wife, Mildred and Carl Hagan; and a son, Robert.
