The Utility Committee of the Trenton City Council discussed water rates during a meeting on Thursday night.
City Clerk and Interim City Administrator Cindy Simpson said committee members talked about water rates and funding for the owner-supervised permit for water main replacement. Staff will visit with Burns and McDonnell engineering firm about reviewing the city water rates, similar to what they did regarding the city sewer rates for the bypass elimination plan.
Mrs. Simpson said the committee also discussed the black start project, which allows for city-owned generators to be used as a backup for power when an electrical outage occurs. Staff is to find out the cost and timeframe of getting the project completed.
There was also discussion concerning fiber options and using the MoPEP infrastructure grant should the city choose to move ahead with a fiber project.
