The Princeton City Council met on Thursday night, discussing future use of the city-owned lot on the square.
According to City Clerk Danette Snapp, the council heard a request from the Mercer County Senior Center to purchase the lot on the southeast corner of the square, which the city come in possession of following a fire that extensively damaged a building at that site. The city recently had the building demolished. With the lot, the senior center would own the entire east side of the square, with plans to build a new structure there. The council said it would consider selling the lot for the amount of money it has in the structure, which would be the cost of the demolition work.
Mrs. Snapp said the council looked at tentative dates for a fall citywide clean-up. She is to visit with Rapid Removal to see when dumpsters could be obtained before announcing the dates.
In the only other council business, approval was given to a building permit for Mike Homedale.
The next council meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 8.
