Oct 6, 2016 | Headline News

The Trenton Police Department is requesting the public’s help in cleaning up the brush and debris from last month’s storm.
Many properties still have remaining brush and debris from the storm and it needs to be removed from the property immediately. Police Chief Tommy Wright said homeowners and/or occupants have until Wednesday, Oct. 12 to remove the brush and debris or potentially face being cited under the city code.
According to City Ordinance 220.020, “Any lot or land shall be a public nuisance if it has the presence of debris of any kind including, but not limited to, weed cuttings, cut and fallen trees and shrubs, overgrown vegetation and noxious weeds which are eight (8) inches or more in height, rubbish and trash, building materials not piled or stacked, rocks or bricks, tin, steel, parts of derelict cars or trucks, broken furniture, any flammable material which may endanger public safety or any material which is unhealthy or unsafe and declared to be a public nuisance.”
The police department is in charge of enforcing the city’s public nuisance ordinance.
Residents who need a location to dispose of the brush and debris may take it to the Trenton Street Department’s brush collection station, located at 1900 E. 16th St., for disposal. The hours of operation are 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Those who have a disability or are elderly and unable to clean up their brush and debris are encouraged to contact Chief Wright at 660-359-5557.
