The Grundy R-5 High School softball and baseball teams played host to Tri-County in Newtown on Wednesday night. Both the Lady Panthers and Panthers picked up wins as the Grundy girls won 13-3 and the Grundy boys won 25-0.
In the softball game, Hannah Garcia was two-for-three with two doubles and three RBIs and Kendra Johnson went three-for-three with an RBI and two steals. Aubrey Gann finished one-for-three, driving in three runs. Matana Munday was the winning pitcher for Grundy (5-9), throwing five innings with two hits and three walks while striking out five.
The baseball game saw Ben Busick collect three hits and score four times to lead Grundy (1-5). Blake Foster, Austin Eckert and Lane Kenley all had two hits and three RBIs each. Wayne Baxter got the win, throwing two innings with two hits and a walk while striking out five. Blake Foster threw the third, walking one while striking out three.
