Grundy Teams Fall

Sep 26, 2016 | Baseball, Softball, Sports & Recreation

The Grundy R-5 High School baseball and softball teams each suffered losses late last week as the softball team fell 12-2 at Linn County on Thursday and the baseball team lost 18-2 at Green City on Friday.
In the softball contest, Emma Novak led the Lady Panthers, going two-for-three with two RBIs. Grundy pitchers issued 13 walks in the loss and struck out six.
“We gave up too many walks, but our defense played well when they had the opportunities,” Lady Panthers’ Coach Jessica Huffman said.
The baseball team was paced by hits from Lane Kenley and Bryson Gann. Kenley, Blake Foster and Andrew Garcia all took turns pitching for the Panthers.
Grundy’s softball team will be at Mercer tonight at 5:30 p.m. Both the softball and baseball teams will be at home on Friday, playing host to Novinger. Action begins with the softball game at 5 p.m. and baseball will follow.
