Sep 13, 2016 | Headline News

North Central Missouri College is one of eight Missouri college and universities selected to receive grants up to $150,000 to expand nursing education programs.
NCMC received $71,784 from the Department of Higher Education and the Missouri Board of Nursing, which provided funding for the grants. According to information provided by Dean of Nursing and Health Sciences Brooke McAtee at a meeting of the Board of Trustees earlier this year, the NCMC program will use the funds to supplement salaries in an effort to retain and attract qualified nursing program instructors. NCMC anticipates adding $5,000 to the base salaries for those positions.
Other schools receiving the grants were Mineral Area College of Park Hills, Missouri State University at Springfield, Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Ozarks Technical Community College in Springfield, the University of Missouri Sinclair School of Nursing in Columbia and the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Grant amounts ranged from $57,000 to $150,000.
