The Trenton High School girls’ golf team traveled to Unionville on Monday and returned to town with a dual victory over the Lady Midgets after carding a team score of 201. The mark was 29 strokes ahead of the home team, which finished the dual with a team score of 230.
Jordain Oshel took medalist honors at the dual, leading the Lady Bulldogs with a score of 47. She tallied one par and one birdie on her way to the low score of the match. Kaitlyn Mounce was one stroke behind her teammate, finishing with a 48. She parred two holes on the day.
Rounding out Trenton’s team score was a 51 from Hannah Kennebeck and a 55 from Lana Raymo. Kennebeck had two pars while Raymo had one. Werthen Gass was also in varsity action, shooting a 57. Putnam County’s low score at the dual belonged to Jasmine Lorence, who had a 53.
In junior varsity action, Maci Henson shot a 51, with a par on the seventh hole, and Oakley Madden finished with a 61.
“We had a number of girls play well,” Trenton Coach Travis Mullenix said. “Maci, Oakley, and Jordain all shot their best scores of the year. Hannah had another solid day and Kaitlyn ran her string of scores in the 40’s to four in a row. She and Hannah are playing very consistent golf right now. Jordain turned in her best score of the year by far. She had a good Richmond Tourney last week and I think that helped her confidence a little. Maci and Oakley just continue to get better and I’m very happy with their progress this year. Maci’s 51 is a very good score for a freshman.”
Trenton’s golf team will be back in action on Thursday as the Lady Bulldogs travel to the Chillicothe Tournament at the Green Hills Golf Course. Tee time is set for 9 a.m.
