No injuries were reported, but two Trenton residents are being held in the Grundy County Detention Center after shooting at each other west of town on Friday evening.
Grundy County Sheriff Rodney Herring said the shootout was the result of a domestic dispute between Kimberly Maxwell, 46, and her daughter’s boyfriend, Tyler King, 25. Ms. Maxwell and King shot at each other near the entrance of the Norris Aggregates Rock Quarry west of town. The two shot at each other, with none of the rounds striking either party.
Following the incident, King came to the sheriff’s office to report it. He is charged with unlawful use of a weapon, a class B felony, and armed criminal action, an unclassified felony. His bond has been set at $50,000 cash-only.
Ms. Maxwell, who is being held on $100,000 cash-only bond, is charged with unlawful use of a firearm, a class B felony; armed criminal action, an unclassified felony; second degree assault, a class C felony; and stealing without consent (a firearm), a class C felony. In addition to shooting at King, she is accused of appropriating his 9mm Glock handgun, which she used to shoot at him.
Both of the defendants are scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
