Michael Wayne Betz, a 63-year-old resident of Laredo, died on Thursday, Sept.8, 2016 at his home.
The body was cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016 at Crowder State Park, west of Trenton.
Mr. Betz was born on Oct. 9, 1952 in Chillicothe, the son of Wendell and Dixie Donoho Betz. He graduated from Grundy R-5 High School in Galt. He was a forklift operator at Modine and worked maintenance at Con-Agra Foods in Trenton. He enjoyed garage sales, antique picking and was a collector of many interesting items. He attended the Old Thrashers Reunion in Mt. Pleasant, IA each year. He also enjoyed raising Longhorn cattle and being outdoors. He was a certified tree farmer as well as being a member of the American Tree Farm System. A favorite past time was cutting wood.
He was a member of the Galt Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Betz of the home; three sons, Whitney and Brandi Hastings of DeSoto, KS, Noah and Brandy Hastings of Independence and Skyler and Mandy Betz of Lawson; one daughter, Ariel Griffin of Trenton; seven grandchildren, Tayler Hastings, Walker Hastings, River Jo Hastings, Gunison Hastings, Diezel Hastings, Ryeland Kirk and Meadow Griffin; his mother, Dixie Betz of Chillicothe, two brothers, Elmer Rex Betz and friend Deb Wesley of Marshall and Kevin Betz and his wife Sandy Trecanni of Spokane, WA; and two sisters, Cathy Betz of Liberty and Barb Peterson and her husband, Brian of Trenton.
He was preceded in death, by his father, Wendell Betz.
In Mr. Betz’s memory, the family has asked that you plant a memorial tree.
