Former Trenton R-9 instructor Marsha Hurst and current high school guidance counselor secretary Donna Dougan will be honored during the Trenton High School Homecoming Parade on Friday, Sept. 16.
Mrs. Hurst has been named the grand marshal of the parade while Mrs. Dougan has been selected as “The Unsung Hero.” Both were chosen by the student body for their honors and they will ride in the parade, which begins at 2 p.m. and will follow a route from the high school parking lot, north on Normal Street, then west on 17th Street, then south on Harris Avenue, then east on Ninth Street to Bulldog Avenue, then traveling north and back to the high school parking lot.
During Wednesday night’s pep rally at 7 o’clock, the homecoming queen and king will be announced, along with fall sports participants, coaches, cheerleaders, managers and mascots. In addition to the candidates already announced, the prince and princess for homecoming will be Eli Todd, son of Dustin and Adriane Todd, and Brooklyn Ray, daughter of Phillip and Taya Ray. The homecoming queen and her court will be introduced during pre-game activities on Friday, which begin at 6:20 p.m. at C.F. Russell Stadium and will include performances by the THS Golden Bulldog Marching Band and Colorguard. The football game with Milan is at 7 p.m. and a dance will follow at the high school, lasting until 11 p.m. Admission is $5 per student or $10 per couple. Photos will also be taken.
