A veterans service officer will be present in Trenton on Friday, Sept. 2 and Monday, Sept. 12 to assist veterans with any paperwork they may have.
The officer will be at the VFW Hall on Sept. 2 and Trenton Hy-Vee on Sept. 12. Both sessions will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a veterans center counselor also being available on Sept. 2. Local veterans service officer Wayne Kleinschmidt said those needing assistance are asked to bring any paperwork they may have, including military separation papers. Active military are always welcome to attend.
Individuals are also being sought to drive the VA shuttle to transport area veterans to doctor appointments as needed. There is currently no driver available, resulting in the van being parked until a driver can be found. Persons interested in being a driver are asked to call 359-2078. All drivers must be able to pass a physical and background check.
