The Trenton Lady Bulldogs scored their second dual tennis victory of the season on Thursday afternoon with a 7-2 victory on the road in Savannah. Trenton dropped just one singles match and one doubles match en route to the victory.
Savannah’s Jacey Cornelius upended Claire Utley in the number one singles match, 8-3, but Trenton would take the five remaining individual match-ups. Lauren Dolan, Samantha Mihalovich and Madison Searcy all three picked up 8-1 victories while Codi DeLong won 8-3 and Emma Gilham won 8-2. The five singles victories were enough to seal the dual win.
In doubles’ play, Utley and Dolan were defeated 8-2, but again the Lady Bulldogs responded by taking the remaining contests. Mihalovich and Searcy scored an 8-5 win and DeLong and Gilham were victorious 8-5.
The win gave Trenton two dual wins in as many tries, moving their overall record to 2-0.
Junior varsity action on the day saw the Lady Bulldogs go 4-0 in doubles’ action. Alainey Fair and Elle Neal picked up a 6-1 win, Emily Bonta and Latorrie Johnson won 6-2, Leah Polk and Halley Windsor defeated their opponents 6-3 and Grace Eaton and Tessa Schlatter won 6-4.
Trenton will be on the road again on Monday, traveling south to take on the Chillicothe Lady Hornets. First serves for the dual are set for 4 p.m.
