Council Interviews Two For City Administrator’s Post

Aug 26, 2016 | Headline News

Interviews were held on Thursday night at Trenton City Hall with the first two candidates for the position of city administrator.
City Clerk and Interim City Administrator Cindy Simpson said two individuals were interviewed by the city council during an executive session, closed to the public and news media. Seven of the eight city council members, along with Mayor Dr. Nick McHargue, were present for the interviews. Third ward councilman Travis Elbert was absent.
Two more individuals are to be interviewed this Monday night. An additional candidate was recently added to the original interview list and will meet with the council. Those interviews, which will be conducted in an executive session, will take place beginning at 5 p.m.
The city administrator’s position has been vacant since May 1 with the retirement of Kerry Sampson. Since that time, Mrs. Simpson has assumed the city administrator’s role on an interim basis and has been assisted by Community Developer Ralph Boots and Code Enforcement Officer Donnie Vandevender.
The council is also looking at the need to fill the job of Trenton Municipal Utilities Director, which becomes vacant on Sept. 2. Current TMU Director Chad Davis has resigned to take a position as operations manager with the City of Rolla’s utility department.
