Trenton was paced by Lana Raymo, who captured medalist honors at the dual. Raymo was the only golfer on either team to finish below 50, carding a 47 on the day. She parred two holes on the day en route to the dual medal.
“Lana had a great day,” Trenton Coach Travis Mullenix said. “She really played well from start to finish. A 47 is a good score. We were solid from top to bottom and that should be a strength of ours this year.”
Behind Raymo, Trenton got a 52 from Werthen Gass and twin scores of 54 from Jordain Oshel and Kaitlyn Mounce, who parred one hole, to round out the team score. Hannah Kennebeck was also in varsity action, shooting a 56.
“I was very pleased with our first outing,” Mullenix said. “The girls all played well. Everybody either shot very near or below their season averages. Some of the girls had a couple of holes that hurt their score a little bit, but I was happy with the way they kept their composure and didn’t let it ruin their round. It’s early in the season and these gals have a lot of room for improvement, so we will be eyeing sub-200 scores in the future.”
On the junior varsity level, Trenton got a 57 from Maci Henson and a 62 from Oakley Madden.
Marceline didn’t have a junior varsity squad and all five varsity golfers for the Lady Tigers shot in the 60’s.
The dual victory established a 1-0 record for the Lady Bulldogs on the season. Trenton will be at home again today, hosting another Linn County team in Brookfield. Tee time for the dual between the two Bulldogs squads is scheduled for 4 o’clock at the Riverside Country Club. Trenton will be on the road on Wednesday, traveling to Chillicothe to face the Lady Hornets at 4 p.m.
