“Paint the World Purple” is the theme of the 2016 Grundy County Relay for Life planned on Saturday, Aug. 27 at Trenton.
The event will be held from 4 to 10 p.m. in the circle drive in front of Trenton High School. Relay for Life is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.
Among the activities scheduled is the annual luminaria ceremony which will take place at 9 p.m. Luminaria will line the circle drive in honor of loved ones who are currently fighting or have fought the battle of cancer or in memory of those who lost their fight. Each luminaria is personalized with a name and a message or drawing.
Persons who would like to participate in the ceremony and purchase a luminaria may do so at a cost of $5 per luminaria. They can be purchased by contacting any team captain – Charity Halstead, Skyler Southwick, Heidi Gifford, Jadeth McCloud, Dr. Pam Ralls, Lindsay Brewer, Emily Kasinger or Suzi Beck. Persons can also pick up forms at the Trenton Middle School office that can be filled out and mailed, along with payment for the luminaria, to Relay for Life of Grundy County, Trenton Middle School FCCLA, 1417 Oklahoma, Ave., Trenton, MO 64683. Checks should be made payable to the American Cancer Society.
