Property Tax Sale Is Monday, Aug. 22

A total of 141 properties will be offered for sale at the annual Grundy County delinquent tax sale, slated for 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 22 at the Grundy County Courthouse.
According to Grundy County treasurer/collector Barbara Harris, the number of properties for sale is down from the original number of properties that were first announced for sale in July, which was 167. Owners have paid back taxes on 26 properties since that time.
Of the 141 properties scheduled for sale, 49 are being offered for the first time, 33 for the second time, 17 for the third time, 19 for the fourth time, five for the fifth time and 16 for the sixth time or more.
Madison Township has the largest number of properties for sale, 67, all of which are located at Leisure Lake. There are 32 properties for sale in Trenton Township, 14 each in Wilson and Franklin townships, 11 in Liberty Township, two in Taylor Township and one in Marion Township.
Property owners will have until 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 19 to pay back taxes, along with interest, and take it off Monday’s sale roll. All buyers at Monday’s sale must be Missouri residents and cannot owe any back taxes.
