What a great response we have had thus far to our wellness publication that appeared as part of the Trenton Republican-Times on Friday, July 22.
For those of you who haven’t had the chance to see it, the 24-page edition contains stories on various health topics and features several local persons who are going through or have been affected by those topics. Childhood diabetes, handicapped accessibility, dealing with an elderly parent, dialysis and knee injuries were just some of the subjects of the stories, written by members of the R-T staff. Local and area businesses were also supportive of our efforts as well and since its publication, many persons have given us the “thumbs up” for sharing this information.
I want to thank all the individuals who told us their stories and allowed us to share them with our readers. It made our “special section” that much more special.
If you haven’t seen the special section, you can purchase a copy at the Republican-Times office or, if you are a subscriber to our online service, you can also see a copy of the stories at www.republican-times.com.

It’s hot and there’s a chance of rain coming up, so that could only mean one thing….
It’s North Central Missouri Fair time.
This year’s fair, which by the way is celebrating its 66th year, will be held Aug. 2-6. “Get Your Kicks at the 66th NCM Fair” is the theme of the parade, which kicks off this year’s activities on Tuesday night along with the coronation of the NCM Fair Queen and the annual FFA whole hog barbecue. In addition to livestock, fine arts, flowers and 4-H exhibit judging, there will be entertainment at the grandstand each evening. Free musical entertainment is planned in the Rock Barn courtyard on Friday night and a baby show is scheduled on Saturday.
A complete listing of fair activities was included in Tuesday’s Republican-Times as well as this week’s Green Hills Weekly, which is available today. The R-T will also carry information from the fair throughout the week as well as a special photo section following the conclusion of the fair.

It’s been 50 years since the last football championship at Trenton High School and members of that team will be celebrating with a reunion, social and meal this Saturday night at the Black Silo Winery. Following the meal at around 7 p.m., the public can stop by and visit with those players who plan to be in attendance.
In addition to being named the M-S state champions, the 1966 team is also the last undefeated THS football squad, finishing the year with a 10-0 record. Knowing many of the individuals who were on that team and plan to be here, it is sure to be a great time to visit and reminisce about the good old days.
