Busy Bees Have Busy Meeting

The Busy Bees 4-H Club met on July 17, 2016 at the Laredo Community Center. Rebecca Urich presided over the meeting. Kaleb Bower and Kyle Bower led pledges. Roll call was answered with a response to – “Where would you like to go on vacation?” There were 18 members, 12 leaders, and six guests present.
Project reports were given by Allena Allen (Beef), Bailey Williams (Clover Kid), Haley Kidd (Woodworking and Swine), Ada Fox (Gardening and Swine), Mariah Fox (Cake decorating and Swine), and Rebecca Urich (Beef, Archery and Horse). The club sang “Happy Birthday” to Morgan King and Haley Kidd. Mrs. Urich announced that members need to sign up at 4-H online for demonstrations that qualified at Contest Day for the State Fair by Aug. 1.
Mrs. Urich also announced that Achievement Day would be Aug. 1 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Rock Barn. She had tags available for anyone who needed them. Mrs. Urich encouraged each member to enter at least one item per project, but no more than three. If posters are made she suggested using 14 inch by 22 inch poster board. She also mentioned that the fair would have a BBQ Chicken Cook-Off this year on Wednesday, Aug. 3. She also asked members to sign up to watch items in the Rock Barn on Thursday Aug. 4 or Friday, Aug. 5. She also encouraged members to help set up the livestock barns on Wednesday, July 20 at 6 p.m. or to help set up the Rock Barn area on Wednesday, July 27 at 6 p.m.
Mrs. Urich also asked members to sign up to set up (Sunday, July 31) or take down (Wednesday, Aug. 3) the election booths at the Laredo Community Center. She also announced that the Grundy Electric meal would take place on Thursday, Aug. 11 and servers are needed.
For an activity, members made KC Royals posters for the upcoming game. Snacks were provided by the Allens and drinks were brought by the King family. The next meeting is scheduled for Aug. 21. – Submitted by Morgan Foster, Club Reporter.
