The first beams of the new Charlie Dye Bridge were laid by workers on Wednesday afternoon. Construction of the bridge, located at the west end of Crowder Road, is anticipated to be completed this fall at no out-of-pocket expense to Grundy County, which is having the bridge replaced. Federal funds received through the Missouri Department of Transportation are paying for 80 percent of the cost with the remaining cost being covered by “soft match” credits the county has obtained by doing some of its own work on other bridge projects. The cost of the bridge is projected at $1.173 million.
