Budgets and bids were approved during special meetings of the Grundy R-5 and Tri-County R-7 boards of education on Thursday night
Grundy R-5
The Grundy R-5 Board of Education approved a deficit budget for the 2016-17 school year during its meeting at Galt.
According to information provided by Superintendent Rob Deaver, the district is looking at revenues of $2,439,586 for the coming year while expenditures are estimated at $2,505,461. This leaves a deficit of $65,875. The budget goes into effect today.
The board also amended the 2015-16 budget to show actual revenues and expenditures for the year as well as approved an estimate of $2,850 from Duane Campbell for a remodeling project at the elementary school. In executive session, the board approved the hiring of an individual to be the district’s K-12 counselor for next year, with the name to be released once a signed contract is returned.
The next regular board meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 14 at the high school in Galt.
Tri-County R-7
Several bids were approved by members of the Tri-County R-7 Board of Education durits meeting in Jamesport.
According to information provided by Superintendent David Probasco, the board approved a bid from Troyer Roofing to perform repair and coating work to additional roofs at the school, including the blue building, the Kimberling addition and the new gym. Ferman Hostetler was approved to replace windows in the high school music room as well as repair various drywall and ceiling areas in the building. Hostetler will also do an update on the blue building to meet the necessary requirements for housing a daycare program at the school.
Other bids accepted were from Midwest Digital Systems for a secure entry system; CDI for laptops and desktop computers; Haddock for Promethean boards and QNS for informational technology service. Also approved by the board were MSBA policy updates and implementation of a daycare program as well as amending the 2015-16 budget to show actual revenues and expenditures. The 2016-17 budget was approved, however, no additional information was provided.
Board members conducted interviews for the vacant position on the board, but took no action. An executive session for personnel was held, with no announcement made.
The next regular board meeting will be held on Thursday, July 7 at the school in Jamesport.
