Local Athletes Compete At Kauffman Stadium

Maci Moore, left, and Bailey Barnett, right, were at Kauffman Stadium on Saturday, competing in the Royals’ team region of the Pitch, Hit & Run competition. Moore was second in the 13-14 girls division and Barnett was first in the 7-8 girls division. Both players advanced through the local competition in Trenton, sponsored by the Green Hills Recreation Association. From there they competed at the sectional level in Oak Grove, where they were overall winners. Overall winners’ scores from all sectionals in the Royals’ team region were compared and both Moore and Barnett were in the top three, qualifying them for the Royals’ team region competition on Saturday. The top winners from all 30 team regions will have their scores compared and the top winners, including Barnett, will advance to San Diego to compete at the MLB All-Star Game. Moore is the daughter of Traci Hultman and Justin Moore, both of Trenton, and Barnett is the daughter of Brooke (Beverlin) and Bryan Barnett of Bethany.
