Plans are under way for the 66th annual North Central Missouri Fair, which this year will be Aug. 2-6.
Grandstand events will actually start the weekend prior, with rodeo competitions on Friday, July 22 and Saturday, July 23. The youth rodeo will take place on Friday while the adult event will be on Saturday. Both contests get under way at 7 p.m. at the NCM Fair grandstand area. Admission on Friday night is $10 for adults, $5 for youth ages 6 to 12 and free for youth ages 5 and under. Saturday’s admission is $15 for adults, $5 for youth ages 6 to 12 and free for youth ages 5 and under. High Stakes Rodeo is in charge of both rodeo competitions.
A tractor pull is slated for Sunday, July 31, also at the NCM Fair grandstand. Weigh-in and registration begins at 10 a.m., with pulling to get under way at 11 a.m. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for youth ages 6 to 12 and free for youth ages 5 and under. The grandstand activities return on Wednesday, Aug. 3 with the Super Teen Contest, beginning at 7 p.m. Registration will be held from noon to 7 p.m. Rick Hull can be contacted for more information at 359-1389.

ATV and dirt bike motocross races will take place at the grandstand on Friday, beginning at 7 p.m. Registration begins at 4:30 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for youth ages 6 to 12 and free for youth ages 5 and under. Grandstand events conclude on Saturday night with the annual demolition derby. Registration is at 4 p.m., with competition to begin at 7 p.m. Pit passes are available for $20 with regular admission of $10 for adults, $5 for youth 6 to 12 and free for youth ages 5 and under. “Getting Your Kicks at the 66th NCM Fair” is the theme for this year’s parade, which kicks off on Tuesday, Aug. 2 at 5:30 p.m. and follows the traditional fair parade route. Entries can be made by contacting Katie Kinney at 359-6463.
Tuesday evening continues with the annual FFA whole hog roast in the livestock pavillion at the fairgrounds, beginning at 6 p.m. The new NCM Fair Queen will be crowned during ceremonies at 7 p.m. in the courtyard of the Rock Barn.
Wednesday’s schedule kicks off with the swine show at 9 a.m., which will also be the start time for the BBQ chicken cookoff competition in the courtyard. On Thursday, the rabbit and poultry show is at 9 a.m. while the dairy show will be at 9 p.m.
Friday’s events begin with the sheep show at 9 a.m., followed by the goat show. Hammertoe and the Fun Guys will perform in a free concert in the courtyard area of the Rock Barn at 7:30 p.m.
The beef show will start off Saturday’s schedule at 9 a.m. The FFA Baby Show is slated for 10 a.m. in the courtyard, with the premium sale of livestock to be held in pavillion at 5 p.m.
The Trenton FFA will have its food shack available throughout the week. Kenny’s Fun Land will be providing the carnival rides, with advance tickets now available for sale at several local businesses. The tickets, which are $18 each (cash only), will allow the purchase of an armband on any one night of the fair to ride an unlimited number of rides that evening. Tickets are available at the Trenton Republican-Times, Farmers Bank of Northern Missouri, Farmers State Bank, Citizens Bank and Trust, Trenton MFA and KTTN radio.
