Lawrence Michael “Mike” Ford, a 76-year-old Trenton resident, died on Wednesday, June 1, 2016.
A private memorial will be held at the family farm.
Mr. Ford was born in Trenton, the son of Lawrence and Dorothy Ford. He was an Eagle Scout who enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping throughout his life. He was a fan of big band jazz and played saxophone in dance bands in high school and college. He also enjoyed flying and was a licensed pilot and flight instructor.
After graduating from Trenton High School, Mr. Ford attended the Missouri School of Mines at Rolla, graduating with a bachelor of science degree in physics in 1961. He served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, followed by a 41-year career at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, N.M. In retirement he was a member of the New Mexico chapter of the Association of Former Intelligence Officers, where he served as the chapter’s president in 2015.
He and his wife visited Hawaii nearly every year. He attended Calvary Albuquerque and Faith Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lynn “Lynn”; two sons, John Elias and Brian Elias and his wife, Tracy; and four grandchildren.
