Barnes-Baker Automotive and Ford Motor Company are teaming up with the Friends of the Trenton Parks Foundation to inject up to $6,000 into the community by hosting a Ford Drive 4UR Community event on Saturday, June 4.
This event is identical to the Drive 4UR School events with the exception that a community organization is the beneficiary. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Trenton Middle School parking lot.
For every test drive conducted on Saturday, June 4, Ford will donate $20 to Friends of the Trenton Parks Foundation. There is a limit of one test drive per household and individuals must be 18 or older to drive. The Foundation needs at least 300 valid test drives to meet the goal of raising $6,000 from Ford. The test drive will only take about 15 minutes of your time and there is no sales pressure.
Funds raised from the drive will be used to purchase equipment for a handicap inclusive playground in Trenton. Those driving are also eligible to enter a drawing for a Garmin VivoFit 2 Activity Tracker given away, courtesy of Dave’s Body Shop.
Friends of the Trenton Parks Foundation is a newly-created organization that works to promote and advance growth and development in the Trenton Park System. It is recently formed organization with board members consisting of Chad Boyd, Daniel Gott, Karen Glenn, Duane Helmandollar, Kara Helmandollar, NiCole Neal and David Whitaker. Currently the foundation is raising funds for a handicap-inclusive playground in the park system. It has been estimated that approximately $125,000 to $150,000 will be needed for the construction.
Members note the Drive 4UR Community is a fantastic way for money from outside the community to help fund the project. Approximately $7,000 has been raised thus far.
Persons wanting more information about the Drive 4UR Community can contact Foundation member Kara Helmandollar at 359-5966.
