The Trenton Fire Department teamed up with Casey’s General Store and the American Red Cross over the weekend to not only deliver pizza, but smoke detectors as well.
Trenton Fire Marshal Lt. Robert Romesburg tagged along with the Casey’s pizza delivery drivers as they made their rounds in Trenton. During deliveries, residents were asked about smoke detectors in their homes and, if residents had working smoke detectors already, they were rewarded with free cheesy breadsticks compliments of Casey’s. If no alarms were present or not acceptable, new alarms were provided at no cost along with the cheesy breadsticks offer.
According to Romesburg, many of the residents were found to have functioning smoke detectors, however, some detectors were replaced. There were 27 residents contacted, with 27 smoke detectors found. Of those 27, 18 were working. There were 13 new detectors provided. Smoke detector literature and fire safety checklists were also provided to all residents.
