The Grundy County Nursing Home District Board of Directors met Monday evening, approving a new health insurance plan, increasing room rates and approving employee salaries as part of its new budget.
According to information provided by Administrator Donita Youtsey, insurance brokers were present to discuss the health insurance coverage bids. The current provider’s bid included an 11.48% cost increase. Board members approved the 2016-2017 employee health insurance coverage with a change in provider from Blue Cross Blue Shield to United Health Care at a cost savings to Sunnyview of approximately $61,000. The United Health Care bid included a 0.9% cost increase over the current provider premiums. Employ-ee cost for the base plan will remain at $87 per month per employee for comprehensive medical coverage.
The Board approved a daily room rate increase of $5 effective July 1 for the nursing home and the residential care apartments. The new room rates effective July 1 are $152 for private rooms and $147 for semi-private. The residential care apartment daily room rate will be $90 for single Unit A apartments, $93 for single unit B apartments, $108 for single unit C apartments and $180 for double unit apartments. After the daily room rate increase, Sunnyview’s rates will still remain one of the lowest in the area, while remaining proportionate to the allocated Medicaid rate.
